Herb_TeaHerbal teas, also called “tisane” is an herbal mixture of dried flowers, leaves, seeds or roots. It is not made from tea leaves. Boiling water poured over the choice of herb leaves, flowers or roots, and then left to steep for a while. Sometimes seeds and roots are boiled and served after sweetening.

Herbal tea can be made from many ingredients. In Japan, a tea made of roasted barley, better known as mugicha produced and drunk cold in summer. In China, chrysanthemum tea is common, while the Hibiscus is popular in the Middle East. Chamomile tea is sometimes used as a sedative. Orange, lemon and other citrus peels are also used. In the Andes, coca tea helps reduce altitude sickness. Herbs such as fennel and ginger are used to cure a variety of disorders. In some parts of North America, Labrador tea is consumed. Nettle, sage, thyme and basil have been used since time immemorial to make herbal brews.

There are many different recipes for herbal teas on the Internet today. What is harder to find is a large supplier of herbs once you begin making your own mixes.

You can shop at your local health food store or bulk mail filter tanks at the grocery, but I think these herbs are slightly outdated, let alone that they are not organic.

Here are the top things we look at the purchase of herbs for herbal mixture:

1). Certified organic herbs?
2) If different amounts of the herb available?
3) Do I get a discount when ordering in bulk?
4) What are your shipping rates?
5) How much time for my herbal tea to come?

It’s our Top 5 questions and we have a couple of suppliers that has been able to meet our criteria, but none of them proved to be the local health food store!
